Meaning of Egg & Nest

EGG & NEST exists to help Syrian refugees, who have wandered lost for over 12 years, return to a place they can once again call home with their beloved families. Over 6 million Syrian refugees, scattered worldwide, need to return to their homeland. They have the right to live again in Syria. No matter where they are, Syrian refugees remain in the status of refugees and live as strangers. Life as a foreigner is always exhausting. Though they temporarily live as foreigners in foreign lands by God’s providence, they must eventually return to their homeland. EGG & NEST is paving a new path for their return and aims to establish a new city in Syria where they can rest peacefully. This city must be politically and religiously independent from Syria, Turkey, and surrounding nations. Syrian refugees will never return to areas influenced by the Assad regime. “When the Lord brought back the captives to Zion, we were like those who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them.’ The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. Restore our fortunes, Lord, like streams in the Negev. Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.” (Psalm 126) This psalm celebrates the joy and awe of the Israelites as they returned to Jerusalem after 70 years of Babylonian captivity. The author recognizes God’s hand in this historical event and praises His works. God is the one who “makes a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert” (Isaiah 43:19). He desires to bring Syrian refugees scattered around the world back to their homeland. He will open a new path and prepare a new land. “Lift up your eyes and see! Nations will flock to you, and your children will gather from afar. Then you will see and be radiant, and your heart will throb and swell with joy because the wealth of the seas and the riches of the nations will come to you. The Lord declares to Jerusalem: Foreigners will rebuild your walls, and their kings will serve you. Though I struck you in my anger, now I will show you mercy and compassion. Your gates will always stand open; they will never be shut, day or night, so that the wealth of the nations may be brought to you, and their kings led in triumph.” (Isaiah 60, Modern Translation)[layerslider id=”2″]
